What You'll Need

I'm pregnant and planning a sprinkle, and you know I love Dollar Tree. So I put together an entire baby shower setup — centerpieces, favors, and prizes — for $50. Boy, girl, or neutral, you can make this work.

Here's exactly what I did.

  • Vases (tall ones and a fishbowl-style)
  • Fake flowers (I found butterfly petal ones — super cute for a baby shower)
  • Lace ribbon
  • Rubber duckies (bath toys)
  • Glass gems (pink or blue)
  • Scrapbook stickers (letters for names or initials)
  • Organza bags (pink and blue)
  • Breath mints
  • Wine glasses or baby bottles (for favors)
  • Small gifts: nail kits, nail polish, bath bombs, face masks, coconut oil
  • Cellophane bags
  • Ribbon (matching your theme)

Step 1: Make the Flower Centerpieces

Start with your vases. I got two tall ones and one small fishbowl. The fake flowers I found have butterfly petals — way cuter than standard fake flowers. If you're doing a real shower, I'd recommend real flowers for the smell, but these work fine.

For a girl: Use pink butterfly flowers. Space them out in the vase so they look full.

For a boy: Same thing but blue.

Then grab the lace ribbon from Dollar Tree. Tie a bow around the vase. That's it. Simple, not cheap-looking.

Step 2: Make the Duckie Centerpieces

This is the fun part. Grab your rubber duckies and glass gems.

Fishbowl option: Toss some gems in the bottom. Add water if you want the duckies to float. I like the water look — it's like the duckies are alive. Drop two duckies in.

Tall vase option: Fill the vase about halfway with gems. Add water. Drop in a duckie or two. I put two in one vase and it looked perfect.

Now decorate the vase. I used scrapbook stickers to put an "A" on one (for Angelo, my son's name) and an "L" on the other. Wrap lace ribbon around the vase. If you want it to stay, glue it.

Add more stuff inside: pacifiers, baby bracelets, little trinkets. They magnify in the water and look awesome. For a neutral theme, use yellow items.

Step 3: Make the Favors

You don't have to go crazy with favors. Here are three easy options.

Option 1: Mint bags

Grab pink or blue organza bags. Fill them with breath mints. Tie them closed. Put one at each seat. Everyone can use a mint after eating or drinking mimosas.

Option 2: Wine glass or baby bottle

Fill a wine glass with a nail kit, nail polish, and a travel nail file. Wrap it in cellophane and tie with ribbon. Or use a large baby bottle and fill it with mints, candy, or jelly beans. You can also put a tiny rubber duckie in there.

Option 3: Popcorn tin (if available)

Dollar Tree sometimes has popcorn tins. Fill with popcorn, wrap with a little tag that says "Ready to Pop." Perfect for a baby shower.

Step 4: Make the Prizes

For game winners, you want something that looks like a big deal but costs next to nothing.

Small prize: A wine glass with a nail kit, nail polish, and a nail file. Wrap it up.

Grand prize: Use a cellophane bag. Fill it with coconut oil, bath salts, pink nail polish, face masks (cucumber aloe and collagen), and bath bombs. Stack it all nice and pretty. Tie with ribbon. Presentation is everything.

The Final Table

For a girl: Pink flowers, pink duckie centerpieces, pink mints, pink ribbon.

For a boy: Blue flowers, blue duckie centerpieces, blue mints, blue ribbon.

For neutral: Yellow or beige flowers, yellow duckies, neutral ribbon.

Everything together — centerpieces, favors, and prizes — cost me $50. If you like crafting, this is a fun way to save money and make your shower feel personal.
