What You’ll Need
Dollar Tree shower curtain rings – you get a pack of 12 for a buck. I’ve been using them for years to organize stuff all over my house. Here are my favorite hacks.
- Dollar Tree shower curtain rings (metal or plastic, both work)
- Twine (also Dollar Tree)
- Scissors
- A few extras depending on the hack: tension rod, hanger, hula hoop, garland, spare curtain
Oven Door Towel Holder
I have a two-year-old who loves ripping dish towels off the oven door. So I keep a set of shower curtain rings clipped to the oven handle and run the towel through each ring. The towel stays put – I can still dry my hands, but the kid can’t yank it down. Keeps it tidy and secure.
Twine Napkin Rings
Wrap a single shower curtain ring completely with Dollar Tree twine. Tie off the ends and trim. Done. You can hot-glue a little flower on if you want, but it’s fine plain. For fancy napkins, fold one into quarters and roll from one side to the other – you get a double roll. Or fold it accordion-style, then fold that in half and secure the folded end with the ring. Makes a little fan shape. Tiny thing that makes a tablescape look way nicer.
Curtain Pullbacks
Take a twine-covered ring, tie a thicker piece of twine to one end, and fray both ends to make a tassel. Use it as a curtain tieback. Cheap and cute.
Hanging Garland
I have two window sills where I always hang drapery for Christmas. Shower curtain rings make it stupid easy. Just clip them onto the curtain rod and slide the garland through. No Command strips, no hassle. If the rings show, cover them with ornaments or string lights. When you take the garland down, leave the rings on – they bundle the garland together perfectly for storage in the basement.
Tension Rod Storage
In my downstairs bathroom I added a tension rod inside the shower (or any small space). Clip shower curtain rings onto it, then hang loofahs, sponges, exfoliating gloves – whatever needs to dry. Great for small areas. You can put tension rods in closets or pantries too. I use one to store my kid’s cleaning supplies. For real cleaning supplies, extra bags, purses – all works.
Hanger Hack
Put shower curtain rings directly onto a plastic or wire hanger. Then clip scarves, belts, necklaces, or even burp cloths (I’m a mom of a five-month-old, I live in burp cloths). Saves closet space. I also took a mesh laundry bag from Dollar Tree, clipped it onto a hanger with shower curtain rings, and now I have a hanging bag for delicates or socks. Unclip the whole bag and toss it in the wash.
Hula Hoop Canopy
Grab a plain hula hoop. Slide an entire pack of shower curtain rings around it. Attach a curtain (I had a spare from a two-pack I accidentally bought). I used rope to hang it from the ceiling in my kids’ playroom for a movie night. Spread the rings evenly, clip the curtain, and you’ve got a little canopy. For a permanent setup, spray-paint the hula hoop gold or black. I used it temporary – put chairs and pillows inside. Could also do this over a bed or in a corner for a reading nook.
The best part? Everything costs a dollar or less. Good luck organizing.
